10 Days of Love - Day 1: A moment of pure love.
Capture a moment of pure LOVE! This first assignment can be interpreted in many ways as love is ever present and all around us. Love can be subtle or obvious. It can be shy, quiet, barely noticeable. It can be loud, in your face, impossible to miss. When we look for love, love looks for us. Post your first entry for #10DaysOfLove and remember this: it’s not only the picture that’s important - the how, the why, and the moment behind it is equally valuable. Where is the love?
This picture was taken during one of the last days of my retreat in Bonaire last month. As a finishing ceremony I put the whole group in a circle, and passed around wooden beads on a long thread. Together we complete the circle, everyone gets a bead of their own and eventually we make bracelets with them (a little trinket to take home and to remember the group by). This little boy sitting next to me had been watching the classes shyly from afar, and was so happy to be included in the circle. When I gave him his bead I asked him to make a wish and at that exact moment someone took this picture. He closed his eyes, tilted his head back and fully immersed himself in his wish - for what I don’t know, but by the smile on his face you can tell it was something truly special. This, right here, was a moment of pure love. So much happiness. These moments occur every day, and we need to stay present so they don’t pass us by. Love more. Stay awake. Love, every day.
